Here’s an upcoming vehicle from China which is really really similar to the Tesla Model S.
As you can see, the car is basically a copy of the Model S, and there is nothing wrong about it. Copying is good, because benefits consumers: lower prices mean higher demand, therefore higher production volumes, which in the automotive industry deliver much needed economies of scale. This in turn translates in faster technological progress which in turn will further lower prices. Tesla knows it and is one of the few companies who made their patents free to use to anyone. We should stop protecting corporations from this fierce type of competition by making it illegal: if someone is being copied, it means that it’s already had success.
